Gespeicherte Analyse. Der Text, die Finanzdaten und die Bewertung DCF bleiben wie in dieser Ausgabe aufgezeichnet.
Analysis dated 12 October 2026, before the full-year results scheduled for 27 October. The latest published operating quarter ended 30 June; its earnings release is dated 28 July, while EDGAR records the 10-Q filing date as 29 July. The business remains strong, but cash conversion and litigation make a mechanically extrapolated earnings multiple insufficient. The saved share quote has its own trading-session date; neither the October review nor the end of the fiscal year supplies unpublished annual results.
Visa Inc. gehört zum Index S&P 500. Sektor: Finanzsektor. Branche: Dienstleistungen der Transaktions- und Zahlungsabwicklung.
ZENTRALE THESE
Visa can grow with electronic consumption and sell additional risk, acceptance and advisory services through an existing network. Scale reduces the incremental cost of connecting another participant, while trust and acceptance make replacing the entire system difficult. This is an operating thesis: shareholder value still depends on incentives, investment, regulatory outcomes and the price paid. We require growth in distributable cash after reinvestment, rather than treating every adjusted-profit improvement as cash available to owners.
ALTERNATIVE SICHTWEISE
The central question is whether services deepen the network advantage or merely offset pressure on payment fees. Faster services growth can improve customer retention, but bundled discounts and marketing expenditure can absorb that gain. A lower transaction-fee environment does not necessarily destroy Visa if the network monetises fraud prevention, credentials and money movement; it does, however, make a high terminal valuation more demanding. These are conditional analytical interpretations, not verified market consensus.
WAS DIE THESE WIDERLEGT
The thesis weakens if client incentives persistently outgrow gross revenue, lower-cost payment rails win valuable transactions, or legal remedies materially reduce routing or pricing power. It also weakens if rising profit continues to coexist with falling operating cash flow after timing effects unwind. Monitor several reporting periods: one cash-flow quarter cannot establish a structural trend, and a complaint is not a judgment that liability has been proven.

Business model: who pays Visa?
Visa connects issuing banks, acquirers, merchants and consumers. Its revenue comes from services, processing, international transactions and other services, net of client incentives. It generally does not lend to cardholders; banks take the direct card-credit exposure. Visa still carries settlement, counterparty, operational and legal risks. Service revenue recognises the preceding quarter’s payment volume, while most other categories use current activity. Comparing the two mechanically can confuse timing with deteriorating demand.
Q3 FY2026, April–June: net revenue USD11.633bn, +14% reported; GAAP EPS USD2.97 versus adjusted USD3.32. Payments volume and processed transactions grew 10%, while cross-border volume excluding intra-Europe grew 12%, all on the issuer’s stated bases. Client incentives rose 18%. The release identifies severance and litigation items; adjusted earnings remove costs that can still matter economically. Our interpretation: network demand is resilient, but incentive growth and cost exclusions warrant scrutiny before extrapolating profit.
October 2025–June 2026: CFO USD16.342bn, technology/PPE purchases USD1.178bn, giving CFO less capex of USD15.164bn. CFO was USD16.821bn in the comparable prior period: a calculated decline of 2.8%, despite growth in profit. The filing attributes pressure partly to litigation, incentives and tax-payment timing. We deduct USD0.728bn of stock compensation as an economic cost, USD0.705bn of net acquisition spending and USD0.097bn of other investment purchases. The resulting USD13.634bn is our conservative nine-month cash-capacity proxy, not an issuer-defined non-GAAP measure.
At 30 June 2026: carrying debt USD23.858bn and cash/equivalents USD12.359bn. Their simple difference is USD11.499bn; it excludes securities and restricted balances and is not a complete enterprise-to-equity bridge. Litigation escrow and customer collateral are not distributable excess cash. During the nine months, buybacks used USD16.430bn and dividends USD3.852bn, more than CFO less capex. The DCF therefore assumes neither perpetual buyback acceleration nor an automatic improvement from cash depletion. A refinancing failure or materially higher interest cost would reduce future levered cash capacity.
The DOJ’s September 2024 civil complaint challenges Visa’s US debit-network conduct. It records allegations, not a proven violation or an estimated fine. Contract remedies can affect volume, pricing and incentives even when a settlement is affordable. Keep this separate from existing merchant litigation payments in the June filing. Before raising the base case, require stronger cash conversion, evidence that services improve economics after incentives, and a documented account of legal developments. The 27 October release is a catalyst for verification, not a prediction of positive results.
Annualisierte Ausgangsannahme (×12/9): 18,179 USD Milliarden.

Basis: Moderate cash-conversion recovery with growth fading as the network matures.
Optimistisch: Services support stronger cash conversion and legal outflows remain manageable.

ÜBERWACHUNG
Katalysatoren und Risiken
Katalysatoren
0127 October 2026: scheduled full-year release; check cash-flow seasonality and the next outlook, without anticipating unpublished figures.
02Evidence that services growth improves retained customer economics after incentives and reinvestment.
03Cross-border resilience and clearer litigation cash timing; favourable outcomes are a scenario, not an assumed fact.
Risiken
01Competition and regulation: the DOJ complaint alleges exclusionary conduct in US debit; it is not a final adjudication. The model does not assign a probability of winning.
02Consumer slowdown, travel sensitivity, currency movements, outages and cyber fraud can weaken volumes or raise operating costs.
03Capital allocation: buybacks are distributions, not free-cash-flow deductions; debt refinancing and acquisitions can consume future capacity.
QUELLEN & ANNAHMEN
Überprüfung der Analyse:
The authored model discounts aggregate levered cash-flow capacity at an assumed 9.5% equity required return, not WACC. Nine-month CFO less technology/PPE spending, stock compensation, acquisition spending and other investments is annualised by 12/9 as a starting run-rate assumption, not reported TTM or FY2026 cash flow. It assumes no net new borrowing and refinancing of principal at unchanged debt capacity; interest remains in CFO. No separate cash surplus or net-debt bridge is added. Values apply before allocation among common and preferred claims; no target per Class A share is published because conversion ratios and contingent claims are not fully reconciled. Fixed growth paths include continued reinvestment. Litigation payments are retained, not added back; unexpected larger losses require a new dated model.
