— = IMF data unavailable for that economy and year. Rounding can affect totals. The table always follows the selected GDP ranking measure.
Nominal GDP converts output at current exchange rates. It compares economic scale in US dollars. Ranking changes can reflect exchange rates or prices as well as real output.
PPP accounts for differences in price levels across economies. It helps compare output volumes, but international dollars are not a market-traded currency.
GDP per person is not an average wage or a measure of inequality. Unemployment and debt require attention to country definitions. These indicators are not combined into a synthetic ‘best economy’ score.
All economies and years use one World Economic Outlook edition: April 2026. Retrieving the data in September does not change the forecast vintage. Years 2020–2025 include historical data and estimates subject to revision; status varies by economy and indicator.
Rankings are computed from the full IMF economy list, excluding regional aggregates. Shares use the separate IMF World series as denominator. Fiscal-year conventions, including India’s, can differ from calendar years.
